Tlahuili

The pandemic has placed us in a situation in which inevitably we have to meditate about all the right questions a human being should ask. Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? This collection explores the emotions of entrapment and spirituality born from the rise of this pandemic.

In the search of my roots, I leaned on my culture to understand how to overcome adversity. An aztec poem in nahuatl puts it very clear. The sun will always come, no matter how big the mountain that covers it is. The word “tlahuili” means hope, a new light. Following the question of where we come from, I took inspiration in the antique legend from The Popol Vu. The most perfect human being created by the gods comes from corn.
